Asus ROG Phone 8 Series will Offer Dust and Water Resistance

Asus will unveil the ROG Phone 8 series on January 8 at the CES 2024 event. On Jan. 16, there will be an announcement of ROG-series gaming phones to the Chinese market. Today, the ROG Phone 8 series received confirmation from the brand about its IP rating.

Asus ROG Phone 8 Series will Feature an IP68-Rated Chassis

Asus has officially confirmed that the ROG Phone 8 series will have a chassis that has a rating of IP68, as evidenced by the above teaser. The design of the ROG Phone 8 series will be water and dust resistant, which means users will have enhanced durability and protection against the elements. The IP68 rating means that the handset can be submerged in water to a specific depth and has a tightly sealed design to prevent dust particles from entering, giving users a more resilient and dependable gaming smartphone experience. It is a significant improvement from the ROG Phone 7’s IP54 and the ROG Phone 6 series’ IPX4 ratings.

According to previous teasers, the ROG Phone 8 series will have a new display design. Rather than the thick bezels that were present on predecessor models, the ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro will have a punch-hole display that is surrounded by slim bezels. It has been confirmed by the brand that the ROG Phone 8 series will be capable of recording stabilized footage using gimbal stabilization.

In China, ROG Phone 8 series will compete with the Red Magic 9 Pro series. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset will be present in both the ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro, just like the Nubia gaming phones.

According to reports, the ROG Phone 8 series will not strictly follow the conventional gaming phone model of its predecessors. It looks like it prioritizes performance while also emphasizing features like an improved camera experience.
