Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus may come with 8GB RAM and Wi-Fi 6E

Apple’s strategy for its standard models could undergo a significant shift with the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus may receive hardware upgrades that were previously only available to their Pro counterparts, according to rumors, which could help close the gap in performance and features.

In a recent investor note, tech analyst Jeff Pu provided some insights about these changes. Pu proposes that all iPhone 16 models will be equipped with 8GB of RAM.

This upgrade is made for the standard models due to the fact that the current iPhone 15 and 15 Plus only have 6GB, allowing the new phones to handle multiple tasks and demanding apps better.

Wi-Fi 6E support is expected to be included in the base iPhones by the analyst, which uses 6GHz frequency to provide faster download and upload speeds, but a compatible router is required. This feature is only present in the iPhone 15 Pro models at the moment.

It’s possible that there will be a change in the camera design that is interesting. According to Pu, Apple is experimenting with a new camera layout that resembles the iPhone 12, moving away from the diagonal design seen in recent models.

In a previous report, we talked about these possible changes and showed early renders of the new phones. Pu’s information seems to be in line with what we were previously informed about.

The standard iPhone 16 models would be much more similar to the Pro versions if these changes were made. It’s possible that the Pro models will still have some unique features, but the difference between them may not be as significant.

Nonetheless, keep in mind that all of this is still speculation. Before they officially announce the iPhone 16 later this year, Apple could make changes to their final plans. Even though these updates sound good, it’s wise to take them with a grain of salt.
